Full house renovation, Sorrento

Completed: 2017

Designer:

In 2017, Hennessy Building Projects were recommended from our past client and friends to design and construct a full renovation on the water front property in Mermaid Waters. After a brief from our clients, we had the ideas drawn up and started the works. Our clients loved a Hampton style home which we applied completely transforming the brick and tiled roof house into a new Hampton style home.

After stripping out internally, the idea came about to extend out the back to create a master bedroom with water views. The majority of the house was then battened out and clad using James Hardie products. The tiled roof was stripped and colourbond was used on the main roof, fly over roofs and back Gazebo area.

The pool area was in great need of attention so we stripped the coping and water tile, replacing the coping and surround with Polished concrete and a new mosaic for the water edge tile. This concrete was designed to have the pool fencing fastened to the side.

Internally, all 3 bathrooms were renovated with matching joinery and tiles. Recycled timber tops on two pac cabinetry was a great feature to add some rustic colour.

Their kitchen and bar cabinetry was featured with two pac cabinetry and Quantum Quartz Bianco Venato Stone Tops. The “Herring Bone” patterned subways for splashbacks is a great feature to match in with the rest of the style of their new home.

Living areas were featured with a fireplace and TV lined with Vjoint in the lounge, large stacker doors opening out to the pool and outdoor entertainment areas. The old Bali hut gazebo and BBQ areas were changed to match in with the rest of the house and flow through to the pontoon with simple, but effective, maintenance free landscaping.

The secondary accommodation flat in the old garage is a great extra space for guests and the front carport and screening flowing out to the new boundary fence separates the home nicely from the street.

Our clients are extremely happy with their new home and it was a pleasure working with friends of past clients to give them the same building experience.
