Proud winner for a 2017 NSW Master Builder Award – Best house additions/Alterations/ Renovations Over $1 Million.

After winning the tender for this project we went straight to work on this old beach shack. The property needed to be sub divided to convert the one property into two luxury beach holiday properties.

The first challenge of this project was to lift the front section, which was the old beach house and build in underneath. To reveal the bare bones of the shack we had to deal with old frame work and plenty of asbestos removal. The new Bal 40 requirements had to be take into consideration for the new and old sections.

We built in underneath House 1 and extended House 2 to make the two newly divided properties, each large enough to be able to accommodate families visiting Byron Bay.

The design from Paul Uhlmann kept the beach shack feel with a few modern designs, including:

• polished concrete floors
• modern bathrooms and kitchen
• hardwood painted screens
